The Cumberland County Department of Social Services is committed to providing economic and social services based on financial needs to individuals and families in Cumberland County. Seasonal and specialised food aid programmes can include food stamps, food aid in pantries and food bank assistance. When a person needs financial support for food, housing, medical care or other needs, the Social Services programme provides various social services, including health and mental health services, education, vocational training, employment and employment services. All types can have a financial impact on the solvency of their family.

Applications for these programs can be made at our office at 275 North Delsea Drive in Vineland. We accept applications for social services on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and call 1-877-762-5555 or 866-664-4357 at weekends. The investment is complemented by RWJF - funded community coalitions in New Jersey and New York City. As part of a nationwide initiative, a working group on childhood obesity was convened in October 2014 to develop recommendations to support the implementation of NJFAI's Healthy Children and Families initiative in Newark.
In response to the recommendations of the working group, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) contributed to NJFAI in 2012 to develop and implement the Healthy Children and Families in New Jersey initiative.
The initiative has now expanded to more than 1,000 participating stores in New Jersey, and many are offering reception points to support the program. In 2009, the Reinvestment Fund worked with NJFAI and the State Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to launch a nationwide funding program to improve access to healthy food. These facilities provide food, clothing and other essentials such as clothing, toys and toiletries to needy families in New Jersey.
They can get boxes of food and more, as well as clothing, toys, hygiene items and other essentials for their children and their families.

Childcare and paternity services are available to all Cumberland County residents for a $6 fee. The aim of the programme of child support and paternity is to improve the quality of life of children and families in our county, especially children under 18 years of age.
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as food stamps, helps eligible recipients buy food with a debit card. First New Jersey General Assistance is a no-work program that provides cash assistance to adults under 18 who meet eligibility requirements. As the name suggests, it supports the low-income, homeless and starving in the southern part of the state.
In 2010, the New Jersey Department of Health's Healthy Corner Store Initiative Task Force met with Food Trust. This working group, which is composed of representatives of the state, local governments, food service providers and community organizations, was formed to explore the benefits of providing healthy food in mom-and-pop stores in underserved communities and to identify strategies to increase the distribution, promotion and sale of healthy products. In 2014, they launched the Healthy Corner Stores nationwide initiative, which started in New York City, California, Washington, D.C. and Washington State, and the Healthier Corner Stores nationwide initiative in New Jersey.
